3 Proven Ways To Lose the Festive Flab without Joining The Gym This January

How many times have you made new years resolutions, similar to those in this pic and failed?

So you've over indulged a little to much over Christmas and you've had more stuffing than the turkey.  

Your work shirt is feeling a little more snug than it did before the holidays and theres a layer of festive flab hanging over your belt line. 

I know how you feel. 

I haven't stepped foot in the gym for 2 and a half weeks. 

Tonight i'm gonna attempt my first workout.  

I'm not looking forward to it to be honest.

Not because its gonna be a tough workout having not trained in nearly 3 weeks, but because It's gonna be packed full January newbies taking selfies and overcrowding the gym for the next month or so until they lose motivation and give up...

I'm just glad I know what i'm doing and can get pretty creative with my workouts...

Otherwise i'd probably be stuck in there for 2 or 3 hours waiting around for equipment.

Is it any wonder why we give up on our new years resolutions.  

Who's got time to do that?

Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to lose weight without having to endure a sweaty, overcrowded gym in January.

Here are just 3 of my favourite proven ways shake off the Christmas cobwebs and fight the festive flab, without going to the gym in January.  

1/ Body Weight Exercise - The beauty of body weight exercise is it can be done litererally anywhere and the only equipment needed is... well... you. I put a lot of body weight exercise programs together for my busy city executive guys, that are in my coaching program, because often they have very little time for the gym, and travel a lot. Some of my guys have to get there workouts done in their hotel room and even at their office desk. Some of the exercises I like to use and find most effective are squat thrusts, burpees, press ups, mountain climbers, and shadow boxing to name a few.

2/ Focus on Eating More Protein and Fats - And less carbs. Your body uses more energy and burns more calories digesting proteins and fats, than it does carbs. They also keep you fuller for longer and provide you with energy. This is effective at losing body fat even if you don't exercise at all. If however you do like to exercise, then protein helps to build and repair your muscles. The more muscle mass you have, the more calories you will burn, even when you're sleeping.  

3/ Run - Running is one of my favourite ways to melt away belly fat, and fast. And it feels good this time of year, getting outside and breathing in some fresh cool winter air. Very effective at getting you fit and burning lots of calories, even after you've finished running. If you don't like running, walking is very effective too. Just might take a little longer.
